Behavioral Science

Behavioral Science is a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding why people do what they do, and finding leverage points for shifting behavior.

Decision Science

Decision Science draws from a wide range of fields and research to understand how people make decisions, and how to improve them.

What I do

Let's create

01

Behavior Change

Whether it is onboarding, engagement, retention, adherence, compliance, or something else - all key metrics ultimately come down to someone doing a behavior. I use social science to understand and shift that behavior.

02

Decision and perception training

I work with experts in medicine, first response, child welfare, and similarly demanding fields to research and train high performance decision-making. By understanding expert intuition in these settings, I believe I get a more complete picture of decision-making than if I only focused on lab studies.

03

Strategy

The thing I do best is unraveling wicked problems so that they can become actionable strategies. By understanding the nuances of behavior and decision-making, I work closely with leaders to re-frame problems in a way that allows teams to coordinate on an approach, while minizming risk and maximizing impact.

04

Research

In everything I do, I try to ensure it is informed by both research and experience - whether my own, that of clients, or of the audience we are working with. I use Cognitive Task Analysis, surveys, and experiments to understand people and context. For problems where prediction is key, I rely on my experience building ML models so that such models can be integrated into solutions.

05

Design

While I am not a designer, I work closely with designers on my own team to create behaviorally informed mock-ups and designs that can serve as a foundation for product teams to then create their own designs.

06

Risk management

In complex domains, traditional risk management strategies can induce "mindlessness instead of mindful anticipation of the unexpected." To prepare for the unforeseeable, organizations should focus on building resilience by enhancing their abilities to monitor, understand, and respond to unexpected risks.
